The Central Silk Board (CSB), under the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, has announced a recruitment drive for the positions of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Project Assistant (PA). This recruitment is aimed at filling a total of 2 vacancies, with one position for each role. The selected candidates will work on research projects focused on climate-resilient Eri culture and Muga sericulture.
Eligibility & Selection Criteria
To be eligible for these positions, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Junior Research Fellow (JRF): Candidates should possess a 1st Class M.Sc. in any branch of Life Sciences or Agricultural Sciences from a UGC-recognized university.
- Project Assistant (PA): Candidates must have either a B.Sc. degree in relevant subjects or a B.Sc. with a PG Diploma in Sericulture.
The maximum age limit is 35 years for JRF and 30 years for PA, with age relaxation applicable for SC/ST, women, and physically challenged candidates.

Eligible candidates can attend the Walk-in Interview on 28 August 2026. Here’s how to prepare:
- Gather required documents: recent passport-size photograph, self-attested photocopies of educational certificates, proof of date of birth, and any relevant research experience documents.
- Ensure you have a No Objection Certificate (NOC) if currently employed.
- Arrive at the interview venue (CSB-CMER&TI, Lahdoigarh, Jorhat, Assam) by 9:30 AM on the interview date.
Important Instructions & Advice
Candidates must attend the interview in person as applications via post or email will not be accepted. No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview. It is crucial to follow all guidelines mentioned in the notification to ensure a smooth application process.
